Maniapoto

Ma te tuakana ka totika te teina,
ma te teina ka totika te tuakana.

Everyone has a responsibility to nurture the young
as well as the elders.

Ingoa: Te Whāriki Tautoko o Maniapoto – Te Whariki Tautoko has original history at Waikato University, being spear-headed by the esteemed founders Hinekahukura Aranui, Sandy Morrison, Taima Moeke-Pickering, Maria Reynolds and Hoki Purcell. Many of the hui were held at the University Marae but ventured to various marae in the Waikato. The need for cultural support arose from an influx of graduates from Te Whiuwhiu o te Hau – Maori Counselling. TWT started much earlier but impetus for growth resulted after a successful combined conference with NZAC Waikato Branch in 1999. TWT was then incorporated in 2001.
