Tikanga based processes need to be retrieved dusted down and practiced. Human nature being as changeable and diverse in character as it is, the need to be aware of differences and actively diversify one’s processes as a very necessary part of being a good counsellor.
The hope is that as we re-create robust tikanga processes, our Māori communities will be serviced with the ancestral practises that were once tried and true. With this hope in mind, it is the wish of Te Whariki Tautoko members that more Māori members join to help rectify the imbalances in our society.
Our youth are at risk, domestic abuse and bullying has filled the media, and our young people cannot wait. We have a sick society. Now is the time for us to look, and listen to our tuupuna, to help us move forward.
